I did an unusual delivery for myself while on an Alaskan cruise last month and yes he finally arrived!

Meet Shadow.

While at Ketchikan, Saxman, Alaska we went on a trolley ride to Saxman Totem Park… we heard all stories of the totem poles in the park and what caught my interest was the story of the Grizzly Bear post also known as Kats and His Bear Wife and bear cubs.

Kats and wife bear had three cubs, one day Kats went hunting and saw his people on his way. He told his wife about the meeting. Later on he wanted to go back to his people, but before he left wife bear told him not to smile at or touch his former wife or take up either of his children. After his return, Mama Bear was disappointed as he lied and disobeyed her.

Kats and Mama bear were fighting when the three cubs arrived home, thinking that their mother was in trouble they came to her rescue and in the process killed Kats whom they (the cubs) didn’t know was their father.

Mama Bear vanished all her three cubs, one in the North where it was all ice and snow and became the now Polar Bear. The second one she vanished to the forest where its all gray and became Grizzly Bear. The third one became her shadow and remained in Alaska that’s how Alaska has Black Bear.

And so do I…. have my own Shadow…
